BACKGROUND: Sixteen year’s experience in the development and maintenance of Wireless Systems broadcast sites.  Worked on all types of sites, including:  tower sites, rooftops, water towers, and cells-on-wheels.

 

BTS INSTALLATION &MAINTENANCE:  Sixteen years’ experience as a Technician installing and maintaining Nokia GSM PCS base station equipment.  Initially installed Nokia GSM “City Talk” (outdoor), “Intra Talk” (indoor), site expansions and single cell “Prime” sites”.  Advanced, with technology, to installing, activating, and maintaining  GSM and UMTS equipment.  Have also worked with IP Access Sites and multiple microwave radio architecture.  Currently commissioning LTE and shared GSM/WCDMA technologies.

 

Responsible for the installation of all base station equipment at new broadcast sites, the installation of upgrades at existing broadcast sites, and the review and maintenance of all equipment at active broadcast sites.  Installation of new and upgrade base station equipment includes building the site’s profile in the Master Switch. Led E911 project which included installation and integration of Location Management Units at cell sites.

 

Maintenance responsibilities include the monitoring and testing of: 1) active base station equipment, 2) telco interface equipment-T1/Ethernet backhaul, 3) antennas and coax cables/fiber optic, 4) air conditioners and heat exchangers, 5) site generators, and all related site equipment. 6) Advanced troubleshooting skills.

 

Assumes supervisor responsibilities when called upon. Go to person when supervisor needs a replacement for vacation etc.

 

CIVIL WORKS:   Performed general site civil works including: installation of equipment platforms, overhead ice bridges, lightning rods and downleads, grounding system bus bars and downleads, ground field rods and ring, underground telco and electric power, site finish rock and landscaping.  Installed lightning protection and grounding systems using CAD welding processes.  Secured Antenna mounts to water towers using Capacitive Discharge Welding techniques.  Performed work as necessary to clean up and complete sites.  Operated trenchers, front-end loaders, power augers, jackhammers, and other power tools as required to perform site civil works.

 

MICROWAVE:   Experience in the installation of Harris and Adtran microwave radio systems, and mounting of microwave dishes and coax cables on all types of sites; monopole and lattice tower structures, water tower handrails, and rooftop mounts.  Responsible for optimizing microwave radios and performed microwave path alignments. Currently working with Ceragon microwave systems for Ethernet backhaul.

 

SITE REVIEW AND CLEAN UP:  Responsible for inspecting work-in-progress of general contractor crews, and performing punchlist walk-throughs for site completions.
